It’s true, you’re not imagining things, and the Met office really has forecasted sunshine and temperatures of to 10 degrees centigrade this weekend! Although it would seem London underground are yet to recognise the snow has gone (I bitch), the weather outside really is a far cry from the bitter cold we have been experiencing of late. With the week perhaps drawing to a painful close, why not unwind, relax, and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, to the tranquil seaside on our doorstep that is Brighton town. Cometh the sun, cometh the man, or something like that either way, we welcome any drop of sunshine with open arms.

With gorgeous sea air and a relaxed atmosphere, this coastal treasure trove of sites and activities are guaranteed to please. With a host of attractions from the famous Brighton Pier, to the cobbled beach, the East Sussex coast line is an easily accessible and a worthwhile trip. Take a paddle, sample the variety of traditional fish and chips, but most of all, forget about work!

If the beach isn’t really your thing, there are a host of shops, catering for the most diverse of tastes. From the mainstream Churchill Square, to the funky, stylish, quirky, cute and cultured lanes, you will find what you need. The lanes provide revellers with a variety of products including antiques, collectibles, decorative flowers, funky clothing, quirky clothing and even a host of niche catering services including a whole shop dedicated to the treat of the gods (well at least in my opinion), fudge.

What’s more, why not pay a visit to the famous Brighton Dome; a building complex located a mere 2 minute walk from the town centre. The structure contains the Concert Hall, Corn exchange and the Pavilion Theatre. Built for the Prince of Wales and completed in 1805, this venue staged the 1974 Eurovision contest where Abba won for Sweden with their hit single Waterloo.

What’s more, enjoy the splendorous oasis of calm that is the Royal Pavilion Gardens. Often referred to as the hub of the city, this is perhaps the ideal location to spread out in the sun with a good book. Okay, okay maybe a little optimistic to use the words ’spread out and sun’ together in British March, but a gay man can dream. However if you are prepared to travel away from the town then Preston park is the perfect place to relax.

Perhaps you are looking to stay the night and sample the generous nightlife. You are certain to come across the fantastical, the stylish, and the rowdy and of course the camp, all of which are situated in very close proximity from the beach and the town. We strongly advise you to check out the one and only gay club Envy, for an enjoyable, fun filled night consisting of all things camp. The bar/club is frequented by hundreds of gay men a weekend, and with awesome ambient and décor - it will not disappoint.

If previous series are anything to go by, expect bitching, vomiting, crying and of course….ROMANCE! (Webbe and Swash???)…
